Santa Hat

Materials:
Red Heart With Love (White & Holly Berry) or any worsted weight yarn
Crochet Hook Size I (5.50 mm)
Tapestry Needle

Finished Size:
0-3 months

Stitch Guide:
ch(s)- chain(s)
sc- single crochet
sc2tog- single crochet two together (decrease)
bl(s)- back loop(s)

Note:
The pattern can be easily adjust to bigger size, by simply making the white band wider and longer. For head sizing I used this chart. The pattern made in two section, the white band and the main body. You can make the tail long as you like.

Pattern:

White Band

Round 1: chain 11 and sc in 2nd chain from the hook and to the next 9 ch(s), chain 1 and turn. (10 sc)
Round 2: sc in the back loops only in each stitches, chain 1 and turn. (10 sc)
Round 3-44: repeat round 2. The band measures 13 inches long, without stretching it. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing.
Finishing: sew together the ends and weave the tails.

Hat

Fold the white band lengthwise and attach the red yarn in both loops.
Step 1: sc around the band. (45 sc)
Step 2: do not join, work in continuous round. sc around, until the hat is 5 inches long, including the white band.
Step 3: decreasing round, place a stitch marker *sc2tog, sc in the next 3 stitches* around the hat until you reach the stitch maker.
Step 4: 3 rounds of sc around the hat.
Next step: repeat step 3 & 4, until the top will close. You can make the tail long as you like.

Finishing
Make a pompom and sew at the tail of the hat. And weave all the ends.
